Working with adults
I help adults build stronger relationships with others, develop greater work satisfaction, and connect deeply with what matters most.
I work with adults of all ages. Depending on your stage of life, the problems you are dealing with may vary considerably.
For many people, young adulthood is full of change and uncertainty. As teenagers move into young adulthood, they are navigating issues surrounding intimacy, educational and career decisions, and new relationship dynamics with parents and friends. These may be the issues that bring you into therapy, as you work to develop more mature relationships and balance your own needs with the needs of others.
Adults who’ve been through these years are faced with other challenges: career growth, finding and maintaining relationships, or raising a family. These issues may bring up anxiety, difficulty connecting with others, and worries about the future, all of which we can work through together in therapy.
My work with you begins with establishing a supportive therapeutic environment in which you feel willing to explore difficulties in your life. My post-doctoral training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Gestalt Therapy provides me with the framework and tools to help you build stronger connections with others, learn better coping skills, and develop a clearer picture of what you deeply care about. We will discuss current issues and problems and your earlier relationship patterns, to help give context to your current areas of struggle and determine how unmet needs influence your present behavior. This exploration helps provide a foundation of self-support to respond to issues in a healthier way. I’ll also help you develop new ways of relating to difficult thoughts and feelings to move toward optimal growth and healing. This integrative approach allows me to provide you with important awareness related to your own history while helping you make meaningful changes in your daily life.
